A poem for Beltane

a fragment of earth
stands between us
as we walk
the path of love

yet our love stands
rooted
to the floor
of yore

bulging segments
of you
remain in bedded
within
me
as a seed

impregnated
with life
brimming with fullness
ready
to bear fruit

yellow lung
sun god
spits out danger

fiery heathens
threaten
to smite
longing
from
its womb

deep within
deep within

the call
sacred turf

we walk
we walk

upon the sacred bones
of earth

blessed are we
in our mothers eyes
